Good Friday 2012: April 6, 2012
This 3-day period, which begins with Good Friday,
is meant to recall the resurrection, death, burial but most of all
the spirit of Jesus. The Triduum is a period of deep understanding and admiration of the life that Jesus lived and why and how he sacrificed himself for all humankind.
It's a time of learning more about Jesus and how he loved all humans no matter what they did, where they came from or who they were.
At the end of this period an evening prayer is done on Easter Sunday. So when is
Good Friday in 2012? Good Friday is believed to be the day that Jesus Christ was crucified. So why call it "Good" Friday when one of Christianities' most important figures was crucified, you might ask?
The reason Christians call it Good Friday is because Christians believe it to be the day that Jesus sacrificed his life
for all humankind's sins and wrongdoings in the eyes of the Lord. Christians are thankful, admiring and worship Jesus for this and take time on Good Friday to appreciate Jesus for what he did. The exact year that Jesus was crucified and sacrificed
his life is believed to be 33 AD but some sources claim it to be 34 AD. If you want to know more about
